A primitiva igreja era dedicada a S. Vicente, hoje completamente arruinada, e próximo dela existia uma fonte cujas águas eram eficazes para as doenças dos olhos.
de Alcobaça e irmão de D. Manuel l Hoje a Igreja de Maiorga é dedicada a S. Lourenço. Provavelmente foi mandada construir pelo cardeal Infante D. Afonso, Abade que, em 5 de Dezembro de 1542 lhe deu muitos e ricos aparamentos protestando que os dava por esmola e para grandeza do culto. Sagrado em 30 de Agosto de 1544, tem junto a si a Capelo do Espírito Santo. Esta foi noutros tempos Igreja da Misericórdia pertencendo em 1775 à Misericórdia de Alcobaça.
A Capelo do Espírito Santo com um belo portal manuelino, começou por cuidar das almas e depois ao bem-fazer, hoje encontra-se devoluta aguardando-se ser transformado em Museu.
O Pelourinho de influência gótica com predomínio do estilo manuelino assenta em 4 degraus de face lisa e configuração irregular. O fuste nasce da pala anelar em corda e sobe em torcicolos graciosos, abraçado por um anel ao centro e tendo um remate cónico em forma de pinha.
A Maiorga foi coutada célebre e o maior celeiro dos frades. Dos séculos XIII a XV a Granja de Maiorga foi uma Escola Agrícola.
Primeiro chamava-se Maiorco. Pensa-se que este nome deve ter estado relacionado com a sua grandeza, já que era o povoado mais importante que marginava a antiga Lagoa da Pederneira.
De origem romana, localizada na zona mais povoada dos Coutos de Alcobaça, foi uma das suas vilas.
Era atravessada por uma importante via que se estendia para lá dos Coutos por isso tinha uma pousada para acolher os viandantes.
Recebeu a primeira "carta de povoação" em 1303 pelo Abade D. Frei Pedro Nunes.
Teve o primeiro foral em 1362 e o foral novo em 23 de Agosto de 1514 que lhe foi dado por D. Manuel l, data em que provavelmente foi edificado o Pelourinho no lugar onde ainda hoje o podemos encontrar.

The original church was dedicated to S. Vincent, now completely ruined, and nearby there was a source whose waters were effective for diseases of the eye.
Alcobaça, and brother of King Manuel l Today the Church of Maiorga is dedicated to S. Lawrence. It was probably built by Cardinal Infant D. The Maiorga was famous and largest granary of the Friars. Two centuries XIII too XV of the Granja Maiorga was an Agricultural School.
First called up Maiorco. It is believed that this name should have been related to its greatness, since the village was more important than the former Lagoon of "Pederneira".
From Roman origin, located in the most populated of Alcobaça, was one of their towns.
It was crossed by a major route that is extended beyond the “Coutos” therefore had a hostel to accommodate the travellers.
