Geocache Description:

Park near the ford and only a short open walk

Balmoral is a small town situated in the western districts of Victoria with the same name as the Royal residence in Scotland. The main reason for the original sighting of the town was as a ford or crossing point on the Glenelg river. In the 1850's / 1860's illegal Chinese immigrants landed at Robe, S.A., and walked across country to the gold diggings, crossing the ford at night on their way through. The ford still exists and remnants of the old coach track can still be seen on some private farmlands. Many fine old homesteads built in these years remain. Headstones in the cemetery reveal the tough conditions experienced by these early settlers.

Maybe Lin Po (cache GCYF39) passed this way before stopping
to build his wall.
