A multi-cache that involves learning about the Cooper Mill, in Chester, NJ. A moderate hike at a beautiful spot. Suitable for children. Small/medium sized, unusual container at final cache site.
The Cooper Mill is one of our favorite spots to visit. The village that grew around the mill in the 1800's was known as Milltown. Many of the older houses in the immediate vicinity were part of this once vibrant community. Approach the millpond (by going through the tunnel) quietly to increase your chances of seeing interesting wildlife. There is plenty of parking available off Rt. 513 in Chester. The coordinates listed for stage 1 actually take you to an informational sign posted near the mill. You will have to read this sign to gather information needed to calculate the coordinates for the final cache location. * NOTE: Due to vandalism of the sign the clues have been adjusted. You can find the information to complete the final coordinates when sitting on the bench facing the front of the mill. Final: N40 46._ _ _ (Last three digits, in order, of the year the mill was built, minus 4- also can be found on the keystone at the peak of the front of the mill itself) W074 43._ _ _ (Answer to the following equation: Multiply the total number of panes in one of the first floor windows on the front of the building by 24, then add the number of windows on the front of the mill.) NOTE: Please hide carefully! This geocache container was recently dumped and the ammo box container stolen. It has been reset a third time with a new "camouflaged" container.
