Geocache Description:

The museum reopens for the season Saturday May 1st 2010, weekends only for awhile. Be sure to check the website trolleymuseum.org for the days and hours. Have fun!!
A small plain sight camouflaged cache inside Highwood Carbarn on the back wall, inside the grounds of the Seashore Trolley Museum. This cache is available during the public hours of the museum. The container has room for small trading items. One of 3 caches at the museum.

Go to the co-ordinates at the large left hand (as you face the barn) door of Highwood barn. The cache is located inside the barn bearing 300 deg. 245 ft from there. It is in plain sight but somewhat camouflaged. I had a lot of fun making and finding a good place for this - I hope you enjoy it.

Take your time and explore the many preserved streetcars and interurbans on display in Highwood. Most notable is open car #31 from the Biddeford and Saco Street Railroad. It has the distinction of being the very first trolley car preserved in the world, in 1939.

Another car on display is #1030 from the Lehigh Valley Transit. For some background on this car and the LVT go to:
(visit link)

There are many others too numerous to mention, they all have plaques telling their history.

Seashore has 3 new cars this year (2010): #629 Cincinnati curved-sider from Wheeling, #1160 Connecticut Company, and Locomotive #100 from Sanford, Maine.

There are presently 3 caches at the museum, One outside the grounds, and 2 inside, and they are all in the public areas.

Seashore is a very kid-friendly, family friendly place with picnic tables and much to see, and of course the trolley ride. Some of the cars are over 100 years old. Plan on spending a good part of the day and pick up 3 caches while you are there. I have plans for one at Talbot Park but I still am trying to work that out with the operating department. If I am successful It may be the only cache anywhere that can only be reached by trolley.

The board of trustees of the museum have kindly granted me permission to place geocaches within the property.

FTF gets an 8 X 10 photo of A Wheeling curved-sider, sister to our brand-newly restored # 639. Instructions in the cache.

Congratulations to tugwake on the FTF!!
