This cache is set along
one of several waymarked forest walks that are accessed from the
Glen Doll car park (parking fee £2.00 per day)
The Doll walk is approx 5km/3 miles long and is
marked by red bands on the marker posts. It is mostly on good paths
with some hilly sections. For some reason this walk is mostly
buggyable but the centre section is downhill along a faint grassy
track.
As we approached this location the rest of the team
heard Mr TC let out a sigh and we all knew exactly what it was he
had seen. He is one of these annoying people who spend most of the
year planning his Christmas decorations, all of November checking
bulbs and sorting out lights ending with an entire weekend at the
start of December to put them all out just right. So when we saw
THE TREE sitting in the forest
we knew that he had got some of his inspiration for this year.
Notice the heavenly lights shining on THE
TREE
Even without THE
TREE it is a very pretty place. The Kilbo Burn tumbles
down a series of small falls on its way to join the Whitewater. If
you look to the north you will see the rocky Craig Mellon peeking
through the break in the trees.
If you are continuing on The Doll walk towards Whitewater on the
Rocks, walk back along the track approx 50 where there is a
semi-hidden marker post. The track follows the Kilbo Burn downhill
along a grassy path here.
