Geocache Description:

The Pool is one of the most beautiful landscapes in Central Park. All the elements of Olmsted and Vaux's original design have endured here and matured. Few landscapes in the Park have the renewing spiritual quality of the Pool. The grassy banks, the willows bent over the water, the rushing sounds of a nearby waterfall, all make it a unique spot for contemplation or meditation in the midst of the bustling City. Don't forget your camera!

You may want to sit on the giant natural wooden bench and take in the beauty of this area of the park. Perhaps sit for a while and read a book. May I suggest a story by Jonathan London called “The Waterfall"?

Caution: This is a high muggle area and there may be someone looking when you think there is no-one around. Please replace the cache in exactly the same position or it will certainly look out of place and draw muggle attention.

[UPDATE - July 10th, 2009] This cache was recently seriously muggled and the super cool inner container and all the contents were missing (Thank goodness there were no travel bugs inside). Thanks to a concerned cacher (Thank you ts-biker!), they put it back together the best they could and alerted me. The good news is: I replaced all the bits and it is back up to find! The bad news is: It is a VERY high muggle area and sometimes we get anxious and make a grab without caution. But you will know when you see this container, that you have to be a geocacher to know it is there, so PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE be extra careful when making this grab, please put it back EXACTLY in the position that you found it, and if there are too many muggles, please come back later or use your invisibility cloak!!! Thank you and enjoy!

[UPDATE - April 6th, 2010] This cache is now back up and running after yet another serious muggle. Everything was destroyed by some thoughtless muggles, and for those that have found this cache (or who will find it) you will see that there is a ton of work that goes into creating and camouflaging one of these little hiding places. So I please ask once more, be very very careful when making this grab and replacing it. This may sound like strong words, but if you do not have the time or the patience to "wait it out" until you are 100% certain you will not be spotted, please do not look for this cache. There is an almost zero probable chance that a muggle would ever find this if they had not seen someone make a grab or replace.  So why is it in such a high muggle area? That is more than 1/2 the fun of this cache and you will know what I mean when you find it!  I thank you for all the kind words from those that have made this find, and I am hopeful that hunters that put this cache on their list to find in the near future do so with care. Thank you and happy hunting! Team Sporco
