Labradorit ein Gestein aus Norwegen gilt wie Andesin heute nicht mehr als eigenständiges Mineral, sondern ist eine relativ häufig vorkommende Mineralmischung aus Albit und Anorthit sowie der Mineralklasse der Silikate. Auffällig ist beim Labradorit das irisierende Farbenspiel in metallischem Glanz, die so genannte Labradoreszenz (Verb: labradorisieren), welches durch Interferenz und Spiegelung des Lichtes an den submikroskopischen Entmischungslamellen verursacht wird. Dieser Schimmer ist vorwiegend blau, violett und grün, aber gelegentlich auch in anderen Farben zu finden. [1] In seltenen Fällen umfasst er das ganze Farbspektrum, der Edelstein wird dann Spektrolith genannt. Labradorit bildet sich entweder magmatisch in Gabbros, Basalt und Anorthosit oder metamorph in Amphibolit. Wichtige Fundstätten sind Québec und Nain in Labrador/Kanada, Korostanskiymassiv in der Ukraine und Ylämaa in Finnland.

Further investigations have devoted that the rock is from Norway . Labradorit is valid like andesine today no longer than independent mineral, but is a relatively frequently occurring mineral mixture from Albit and anorthite and for the mineral class of the silicates. The irisierende color play is remarkable in metallic gloss, the Labradoreszenz so called with the Labradorit (verb: labradorisieren), which is caused by interference and reflection of the light at the submicroscopic separation lamellas. This glow is predominantly blue, violet and green to find but occasionally also in other colors. In rare cases it covers the whole chromatic spectrum, the jewel Spektrolith is then called.
