Geocache Description:

Rew Down is on the western side of Ventnor, on a south-facing slope above the Whitwell Road. It can be reached from Steephill Down Road (from where you will appropriately enough need to go down a steep hill), or Whitwell Road (from where you will need to go up a steep hill, but not so much of one) or by foot from the Stenbury Trail. Bus number 3 passes Rew Lane.

Parking is tricky on the Whitwell Road, and Steephill Down Road soon becomes a narrow track, so probably the best parking spot is at the bottom of Steephill Down Road on the hard surface - once you get further up it you will block the track if you park in the passing-places.

This delightful nature reserve features some great views and also some good chalk downland wildlife. Enjoy it, but watch out for the grazing cattle who can be very curious!

The cache hiding place has been a bit 'modified' by bovine trampling so please be careful where you rehide this, to stop it rolling down the hill into the inaccessible areas. Also be prepared to get a bit prickled by brambles when recovering the cache.
