While looking for a place to have some fun on the rock Redisant and I stumbled upon this awesome spot with huge views that Barefoot recommends on his Hancock Brook Cache. But this is no friendly rap down for a smile – you will have to work for this one. At the posted coordinates look south and under an overhang – you will see the cache hanging from a small bush. Finding it is the easy part the trick is how to get it. Honestly I don’t know how exactly we even got the cache into it’s spot … let’s just say things just kind of fell into place. You definately want to bring a freind on this one - they may be able to help you and it's a lot safer. Good Luck, plan to spend some time here and do bring protection for your rope – the rock is very sharp here.
DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS CACHE WITHOUT THE PROPER EQUIPMENT. YOU WILL FALL AND YOU WILL GET HURT UNLESS YOU HAVE A ROPE, HARNESS AND RELATED GEAR.
About the rap. 30-40 feet with some free air and a few trees. Watch out for that first step – you will be raping of a very thin and long flake of rock with a very abrupt transition to free air. There has to be a better way to do this than what I tried to do. To get back up head south for an interesting scramble back to the trail.
A big thanks to Redisant for helping me place this cache.
