This cache is in the heart of Blairstown, NJ near the Old Mill. FTF item for that lucky person who gets there first!
Blairstownâs original name was Smythâs Mills. Many years before the revolutionary war, approx. 1760, a man by the name of Benjamin Smyth built a grist-mill and a saw-mill near the same location as the familiar âold millâ located on Main Street. To this grist-mill, the inhabitants of Pahaquarry, now part of Hardwick, brought their grain on pack-horses to be ground into flour. Smythâs grist- mill was still standing at the beginning of the nineteenth century. The present mill on Main Street was built in 1825 and was purchased and remodeled by Blair Academy in 1904.
The cache area, located adjacent to Blair Academy near the lake and falls is open to the public for fishing (watch for muggles). Parking is available on Main St. near the Old Mill.
