Geocache Description:

The Fall event and MnGCA elections will be held on Saturday, October 11 from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm in the Rice Creek Chain of Lakes pavilion.

We'll put out some temporary caches for your geocaching pleasure! You could also take this opportunity to nab the ten listed caches in this park before they are removed. (See below for a list.)
* A $5 per car fee is required; a gate attendant won't be on hand, so you will need to use the payment drop box
* If you have an Anoka, Washington or Carver County Regional Parks annual pass, you do not have to pay $5.00 per car!!
* Click here for park pass info
* For more information, visit The Rice Creek Park website
* Click here for the Park's Summer Map
* Important Information on Detours, Construction, and Road Closures (until the end of September)

Creative Cache Container Contest

This is one place where size doesn't matter! Whether you cammo a micro or a garbage can, it's all about how creative you can make it.

The cache needs to be constructed in such a way that it could actually be placed as a cache in the wild. It must be able to stand up to the elements without falling apart or leaking. You must include a log book; the cache name should be written on it. When you check in and enter your cache, you will be assigned a number; this number will be written on the first page of the log.

Caches entered into the contest will be placed on a picnic table for observation and judging. Although we would like for them to be in a natural setting, we don't want to miss one. Here are the categories:
- Best Overall
- Most Creative
- Best Craftsmanship

One voting slip will be handed to each person on check in. There will be three blanks so you can vote for one cache out of each of the three categories. When you vote, use the number on the first page of the log to indicate which cache you are voting for. You can vote until 1:30pm; the votes will be tallied at that time. Prizes will be awarded during the "Awards and Door Prizes" time. You must be present to win.
Temporary Cache Finding Contest

Find the temporary caches hidden in the park and be eligible to win a gift certificate!!

The GPX file can be uploaded to your GPS so you won’t have to hand-enter the coordinates. It also includes the caches listed on GC.com in case you want to find those as well. The temps have been interspersed on the same trails.

A letter has been written on the outside of each of the temp caches’ log books to "prove" that they were found. Of course, since there is room for cheating, we’d ask that you use the good 'ol "honor system".

When you finish finding temporary caches for the day, check in with meralgia. For each correct answer you have, you will receive a ticket. These tickets will be placed in a hat, and a winner will be drawn. The winner of the Temp Cache Finding Contest’s drawing will receive a gift certificate. This is not a timed race, but submissions need to be in by 3 pm so we have time to check your codes against the master list.

Awards will be given out by 4:30 pm. You do not need to be present to win. If you are the winner and you need to leave before 4:30 pm, we will mail your gift certificate.
