Geocache Description:

A trail through the Crickley Hill Country Park along the edge of the Cotswold escarpment, past ancient beech trees and with magnificent views across the Vale of Gloucester towards the Forest of Dean and South Wales. There is a steep section with some steps and the path gets quite narrow near the cache making the final 100 yards from the south unsuitable for buggies. There may be cattle (Belted Galloways) in the area - details at the Information Centre.

This cache is a replacement for "View to the Hills" (GCF7DC) by the Supamonkees which had become neglected and very wet. Although the original cache has been archived you can still have a look at previous finders’ logs and photographs here. I have dried out the logbooks' pages and have included them in a new, hopefully-waterproof container for those who wish to read back over reports going back to early 2003. Sadly, some log entries are totally illegible, but a surprising number are ok, albeit very fragile, despite years in a damp/wet container. The disposable camera was totally waterlogged and the film a soggy mess. Please do take your own photos and post them with your log. The cache is close to a footpath which forms part of a circular walk (The Park Trail) which takes you 1.4 miles through areas of interest including nature conservation, archaeology and geology. The trail is marked with red-topped, numbered posts. There are several other guided trails starting from the Information Centre by the car park where you can purchase trail guides (20p each) and other useful information. The cache is also on the route of the 100 mile Cotswold Way, one of a huge number of long distance paths; details here. As some cachers have found there are several "Ubyybj gerr"s around here so trust your gps and pick the right one!

Well Done, Ayepee, for the FTF!
