Seashore, the world's oldest and largest trolley museum.
A magnetic pill bottle at the entrance - easy park and grab. Bring a pencil (and a tweezers!)
No night caching please. (Unless the museum is open evenings for a special occasion.)
The Seashore trolley Museum began with the saving of car # 31 in 1938 by a group of young men who pooled their depression era pennies to buy it when the trolley company went out of business. The president of the company agreed to their price if they would finish mowing his lawn. Since that time it has grown to the world's largest collection of trolleys, interurbans, rapid transit, trackless trolleys and busses.

As of Dec 4 2008 118 has been moved, and I don't know what they replaced it with. Stay tuned.
The car on the other side of the driveway is car # 118 from Cedar rapids and Iowa City. It originally ran in Ohio on the Cincinnati & Lake Erie Interurban. This car is capable of speeds of - are you ready for this - 120 MPH! And it was built in the early '30's! A sister car, #126 raced an airplane and won as a publicity newsreel. It's trucks survive under #1030 which is on display inside the museum.
The cars reached those impressive speeds across Ohio, Iowa, and Pennsylvania cornfields with single track and primitive telephone dispatching. Needless to say there were quite a few accidents - fortunately 118 survived. The car was a desperate attempt at saving the failing interurban companies. They were victims of the automobile and the depression. Unfortunately not even a 120 mph car could save them. There is only one interurban left in America and it is basically a commuter road - the Chicago South Shore and South Bend.

FTF gets a free trolley ride - instructions inside of the cache
Please take care not to step on the flower bed, cache is not on the car or any of the electric poles. Take time to read the plaque, and hopefully take a trolley ride. The museum is open 10 to 5 Memorial to Columbus Day. Last trip is 4:15. I usually run the cars on Wednesdays, stop by and say hello.
