Geocache Description:

This is a Mt Hood Territory Geocache Challenge Cache. It is a barn red Ammo Can.

2008 MT HOOD TERRITORY GEOCACHING CONTEST

July 1 - October 31, 2008

ACCESS TIMES -- Dawn to Dusk.

This Geocache will remain a Regular Geocache after the Contest is over.

- ONE OF TEN CACHES -

There are ten Geocaches in this series that forms the Mt Hood Territory Geocache Contest sponsored by the Clackamas County Tourism and Cultural Affairs (CCTCA).

The 10 caches in the Series are: GC1DJTK, GC1DJTP, GC1DADX, GC1DJTW, GC1DJV7, GC16Z4N, GC1DJV9, GC1DJVB, GC1DJVD, AND AND ------ PLEASE NOTE: Cache GC1DJVN has been archived and can no longer be 'Logged'. A substitute has been set at a new site. That Cache is GC1EFCM and, once again, 10 Caches will constitute completion of the Mt Hood Territory Series.

You can download the Contest Rules and Registration Form at:

http://www.mthoodterritory.com/vfr/geolog.pdf

Good Luck!

The actual Geocaches are all similar and can be identified by the
Barn Red-colored AMMO Cans with a Mt Hood Territory Sticker
on one side and marked as an "OFFICIAL GEOCACHE" on the other side.

Each Cache contains a Log Book and written on the inside bottom
of the AMMO Can is a 'CODE WORD' that you record on your Contest Registration Sheet. The Code Word is also printed on white paper that has been laminated and placed in the bottom of the Geocache Container. (The word "LILAC" is an example.) There are various items in the Cache that are there for trade. You may leave Travel Bugs, Geocoins and other tradeables in the Cache for the next finders as this will remain a Regular Geocache after the Contest is over. So, carry Trade Items with you. Please try to keep the quality of the Trades as being at or above what you take. This will certainly please the next finder!!

As we anticipate that there will be heavy traffic to find these Geocaches, please practice the very best of Geocaching Ethics. Each of the Caches is placed for relatively easy access and discovery. Therefore it is very important that you be well aware of Muggles and carefully replace the Geocaches after you have found and Logged your find (Don't forget to record the Code Word!).

If you discover any problems with a Geocache, a quick e-mail to ORNITH through my PROFILE on Geocaching.com will be very greatly appreciated by the Geocachers that will come behind you.

On your way to the Cache ....Nurseries.

You'll get peeks at Mt Hood.

Honeysuckle.

This is an Alpaca.

So is this.

This is a .... Mop?

They come in all colors.

The Cache is close to this 'Starr'.

In most cases there are

TIME CONSTRAINTS

on the Caches. That means that there are times when they can be accessed and times when they are OFF LIMITS. Please abide by these times as in many cases they are placed by special permission of the Caretakers of the location where they are located. Thank you.

!!There is also a $50 Coupon that goes to the person that posts the Best Photograph to the Logs for a cache in this Series!!

Additional Comment: While you are out this way, why don’t you consider doing a couple of the many other caches in the area:

GC19WNJ -- The Critter Cache. -- A Puzzle Cache that you may have already “Solved”! And “Alpaca” is one of the Answers! Plus, it is a great drive in one of our many beautiful local Parks (There is an admission fee and there are other Caches in the Park.)

GC13Y73 -- Jonsrud Point. -- This is on one of the routes you can use to get to “Alpaca” and is, also, one of last year’s Mt Hood Territory Contest Geocaches but the view from the Point can be spectacular!! The Waypoint cache has been moved so check out the new coordinates.

If you are a Geocacher looking to get more out of geocaching, we invite you to join the Clackamas Geocaching Association. This is a great way to get the most out of Geocaching in our region. Simply go to the CGA Web Page for details!
