Geocache Description:

From parking area, it is only about a 15 - 20 minute walk, with an initial steep 50 - 60 metre elevation change. The actual cache will be off the main trail by approximately 20 - 30 metres.

This is the oldest cache location in British Columbia. It's been here since Feb 2001. Because of the original owners having left the hobby, this cache has been adopted by QuigleyJones, formerly dogbreathcanada. Thanks to Groundspeak for allowing and facilitating the adoption when there was no mechanism in place as there is now.

Cache is a blue 1.5L camo 9L container.

To reduce environmental impact, the cache is hidden between a mound and fern next to lonely evergreen, covered with bits of rotting log and bark. If coming from Marine Drive, when you're about 25 metres from the cache location (or if coming from the other direction, when you're 25 metres past the cache location), you'll see a fairly well-trodden side trail. It has a log across it and pink 'GMT' flagging tape hanging from an adjacent branch. Keep to that trail, to ensure that no further trails are created. That trail will bring you straight to the cache location.

GVRD Parks personnel have been visiting the cache from time to time, presumably to check on the environmental impact. Here is the most recent note left in the logbook by the GVRD:

GVRD PARKS check-up on cache. Remember to obey all park rules when visiting. Be respectful of vegetation while off trail. Try not to be seen if going off trail so others won't follow.

Please stay on the main trail until you see pink flagging tape. There is also pink flagging tape on the branch above the cache. If you're visiting the site, be careful, as GVRD Parks monitoring of this cache could affect future geocaching policies in the GVRD parks system.
