Letterboxing is said to have originated in England in 1854 with a
calling card in a bottle at Cranmoor Pool. But it was the April,
1998 article in Smithsonian magazine that popularized it outside of
the UK.
I set this cache as a letterbox hybrid because Lady Coot fancies
herself a modern-day letter-boxer. Lady Coot will need all of her
fly swattin’ and yarn-spinnin’ skills fer this 'un! She often uses
her magical banjo, diving rod, and plumb-bob to find caches. You
will need a gpsr.
Bushwhacking is unnecessary- just follow directions. This cache
is set in Flying J park. If you park at the lower lot (the lot
closer to the Yellow Barn across the highway), then walk up the
trail, you will encounter geocache number GC142YM (Flying patch
& pin). You will also see some large power lines, and a fence
for the park boundary up the hill to the left, From here, take the
path to the south that parallels the park boundary. Cache has a
special stamp, and crayons in case the stamp does not work…um… if
it’s freezing in June, like today.
