Chacaltaya Cache
(S 16° 20.950´ W 068° 07. 626’ altitud:5377m)
No hay muchos caches en una altura más de 5000 metros y es un poco
raro que casi no haya nieve en esta altura. En 1995 este lugar era
un area para esquiar sobre el glaciar Chacaltaya, hoy en 2008 hay
solamente restos de este glaciar y esquiar es imposible. Es una
pena que los humanos aceleren el efecto invernadero.
Sin embargo es necesario que ustedes lleven guantes, ropa caliente
y botas de excursionista.
Con minibus
Puedes encontrar un minibus en la Sagarnaga (centro de La Paz) o un
minibus en la Ceja (El Alto) para ir al Chacaltaya.
Con un auto privado
Desde La Paz necesitas más o menos 2 horas hasta el Chacaltaya.
Primero maneja hasta la Ceja en El Alto y después pregunta por el
camino hasta el Chacaltaya.
Cuando llegues a la planicie del Chacaltaya vas a encontrar una
casa grande. Desde ahí puedes encontrar y buscar el cache dentro 30
minutos.

There are no many caches above 5000 meters and it is a little bit
strange that there is only a little bit of snow on this altitude.
In 1995 this place was the highest skiing area but today in 2008
there are only leavings of the Chacaltaya glacier, skiing is
impossible.
It’s a pity that humankind accelerates the greenhouse effect.
Nevertheless you have to take gloves, warm clothes and hiking boots
with you.
To go there by minibus
You can organize a minibus from the Sagarnaga (Centre of La Paz) or
you can take a minibus from the Ceja (El Alto) to get to the
Chacaltaya.
To go there by privat car
From La Paz you need approximately 2 hours to the Chacaltaya. First
go to the Ceja (El Alto) and than ask for the way to the
Chacaltaya.
When you reach the basis of the Chacaltaya you will the a great ski
lodge. From this point you can reach the cache in 30 minutes.
