2.5 km circuit on the heights of
Lourmarin.
Cette promenade vous
ménera sur le promontoire ouest qui marque l’entrée de la
combe de Lourmarin. Cette situation stratégique a été exploitée par
les occupants anciens de la région comme le mentionne le texte
suivant, relevé sur le site du village de Lourmarin :
Un oppidum protohistorique : "castel
Sarrazin"
Situé à l’entrée, sur la gauche de la combe de Lourmarin,
séparé du Luberon par ce que l’on appelle la combe du Bon
Dieu le visiteur découvrira un semblant de muraille perché sur les
hauteurs. Il s’agit en fait d’un oppidum
protohistorique qui domine l’Aiguebrun dans sa partie haute.
Il est limité dans sa partie supérieure par une falaise
relativement abrupte et un double rempart longeant la combe du Bon
Dieu. La fortification du site est visible du flanc nord-ouest
jusques dans sa partie située au sud-ouest. Des spécialistes
auraient découvert sur ce site un abondant mobilier archéologique
(tessons de céramiques) remontant à l’âge du Fer. Dans le
prolongement de cette maçonnerie imposante, on note la trace de
deux murs en pierre (séparés l’un de l’un de
l’autre par une quinzaine de mètres environ) qui dateraient
du Haut Moyen Age.
J’ai posé cette cache accompagné de mes 2 petits enfants (6
et 8 ans) qui étaient ravis de partir à la découverte des ruines
d’un château. S’ils ont été déçus par ce qu’il
reste du castel, ils ont apprécié le parcours un peu
accidenté.
Le circuit commence en PK où vous pouvez laisser votre voiture et
emprunter le GR97 qui part vers le nord. 1 km plus loin vous
arrivez en W1 d’où vous distinguerez un rempart de
l’autre côté du vallon, vers l’est. Quittez le GR 97
pour prendre un sentier sur la droite qui traverse un vallon et se
dirige vers la cache. Ensuite il vous faudra choisir entre
plusieurs traces à travers les broussailles pour parvenir au
sommet.
Ce qu’il reste de l’oppidum n’est pas très
évocateur ; quelques murs de pierres sèches envahis par la
végétation. Le castel Sarrazin se trouve vers le sud – est,
un peu en contre bas de ce point.
La cache se trouve au bord de la falaise donnant sur l’entrée
de la combe. C’est une boite en plastique bleu posée derrière
un rocher et visible.
This trip will make you walking on the west
promontory that marks the entrance to the combe Lourmarin. This
strategic location has been exploited by the former occupants of
the region as mentioned in the following, found on the site of the
village of Lourmarin:
A oppidum : "castel Sarrazin"
Located at the entrance on the left of the combe Lourmarin,
separated from the Luberon by what is known as the Good God combe,
visitors will discover a semblance shell perched on the heights. It
is actually a proto oppidum which dominates the Aiguebrun in its
upper part. It is limited in its upper part by a relatively steep
cliff and a double wall along the combe of the Good God. The
fortification of the site is visible from the north-west side up in
its south-west. Experts have discovered on this site a rich
archaeological (broken ceramics) dating from the Iron Age. In line
with this impressive masonry, there is a trace of two stone walls
(separated from each other by a dozen metres) which are from the
High Middle Ages.
I made this cache with my 2 young children (6 and 8 years) who were
happy to discover the ruins of a castle. If they were disappointed
by what remains of the castle, they appreciated the course a little
rough.
The tour begins in PK where you can leave your car and take the
GR97, which starts north. 1 km farther you arrive in W1 where you
can see a rampart on the other side of the valley to the east.
Leave the GR 97 to take a path on the right that crosses a valley
and heads towards the cache. Then you must choose between several
track through the bush to reach the summit.
What remains of the oppidum is not very evocative, few dry stone
walls overgrown by vegetation. The castle Sarrazin lies to the
south - east, a little against the bottom of this.
The cache is located at the edge of the cliff overlooking the
entrance to the combe. It is a blue plastic box behind a rock and
visible.
