Geocache Description:

This cache is located near "The Big Tree", Saskatchewan's largest tree, measured by diameter. The main gravel road is in good condition, but the lower road could be a bit of a problem in wet weather. The first "Tree Road" sign you'll see is about 12 km north of Petrofka Bridge. Proceed east for 8 km and watch for the next "Tree" sign, continue to follow the small white "Tree" signs to the destination! Watch for a danger sign just before descending into the valley, drive cautiously as this is a narrow road.

According to Saskatchewan Scenic Drives the tree has a diameter of 61", a girth of more than 16' and the bark is 4" thick. It is a cross between a Plains Cottonwood and a Balsam Poplar. It is estimated to be between 100 and 150 years old. It isn't particularly high, with a height of of almost 69' with branches spanning close to 105'. According to Saskatchewan Forestry Associations, there have not been reports of any other trees in Saskatchewan with a larger diameter.

The difficulty rating is not for the actual cache, just the trip there :)

Since you're nearby you may also want to look for the "Picture Perfect" cache, which is just down the road to the south.

** Warning. Please keep a watchful eye for wildlife in the area. This past summer we have heard of reports of Cougars, Rattlesnakes and Bears in the area. **

** Congrats to CHEVELLE for the FTF **
