Este cache te muestra otro sitio excepcional de Lanzarote, la Cueva de los Verdes. En su interior hay una temperatura de más o menos 22°. Durante el recorrido tienes que pasar por zonas muy estrechas y oscuras.
Este es el uno de los sistema de cueva volcánica más larga del mundo, con una longitud total de unos 7 km. Aproximadamente 1 km está preparado y abierto para el público. Hace unos 3.000-5.000 años esta cueva fue creada por una colada de un volcán muy cercano. Esta formación es del tipo "tubo volcánico".
Normalmente la lava fluye en un canal hacia abajo. Mientras el interior del canal se queda caliente, el exterior se enfría por el contacto con el aire, el agua o el suelo. Por eso la parte exterior de la lava se solidifica mientras la parte interior continúa fluyendo en silencio – en este caso hasta el nivel del mar. La lava solidificada restante forma un túnel vacío - como la Cueva de los Verdes.
De vez en cuando, el techo se fractura y forma un tipo de lucernario llamado "jameo". Aquí en Lanzarote, también se puede ver este tipo de espectáculo. Se llama "Los Jameos del Agua" y se encuentra muy cerca, a tan solo unos cientos de metros de la Cueva de los Verdes.
Este sistema de cuevas está formada por dos galerías, la inferior y la superior. En las paredes del interior de la cueva se encuentran residuos de diferentes coladas.
Después de pagar la entrada se tiene que esperar la siguiente guía. El recorrido dura unos 50 minutos y se extiende a lo largo de 1 km. Te aportan mucha información sobre la historia geológica de la cueva (en idioma inglés y español). Hay iluminación y música ambiental, por lo que el recorrido es una experiencia para los sentidos. La cueva es bastante oscura. Si quieres hacer fotos, tienes que utilizar un trípode y apagar el flash.
Para registrar el cache, tienes que hacer dos cosas:
I. Escucha al guía y mándame un email (mira mi perfil) con las respuestas correspondientes:
a) ¿Cuál es el nombre del volcán causó la colada que creó la cueva?
b) ¿Cuál es el secreto de la última estación durante la excursión por la cueva? (es algo relacionado con el agua y la piedra…)
c) Opcional – ¿Qué tipo de erupción volcánica es? (El nombre científico, empieza con "H")
Puedes mandar un email en idioma alemán o inglés. Aunque nuestro español no es muy bueno, también puedes escribirnos en español, quizás lo entendemos un poco ;-). La respuesta de pregunta c) es bastante difícil, por eso lo aceptamos si respondes solamente a las preguntas a) y b). Si clicas "send my email address along", puedo responderte en caso de error.
II. Opcional – Haz un foto de un miembro (como mínimo) de tu grupo, tu GPS y o la placa "Cueva de los Verdes" (cerca del aparcamiento) o las placas "entrada/salida" de la cueva (mira los fotos). Por favor, no lo mande por email. Es opcional, registros sin fotos son aceptados.
Puedes registrar el cache después de mandarme el email – ¡no tienes que esperar mi respuesta! Te mandaré un email si hay un error – en caso contrario no respondo.
Por favor, no publiques las respuestas en tu registro. Cancelaré registros que contengan las respuestas. Solo se puede responder a pregunta b) si participas en la excursión guiada por la cueva, dependes de las horas de apertura.

ENGLISH
This cache leads you to another highlight of Lanzarote: the cueva de los verdes. The inside temperature is about 22°C. Some seriously narrow and poorly lighted staircases must be passed.
This is the one of the world’s longest volcanic cave system with a total length of about 7km. About 1km is prepared and opened for the public.
This cave has been created by a flood of lava from an eruption of a nearby volcano some 3.000 years ago. It is a so called "lava tube".
Lava usually flows down from the top of the volcano in channels. While the inner part of these channels stays hot, the outer mass cools down by contact with the surrounding air, water or ground. So it slowly stops flowing and gets solid while the inner stream of still liquid lava flows down further on (down to sea level into the sea in this case). The remaining solidified lava forms an empty tunnel – like the cueva de los verdes.
Often these caves consist of a main lava tube and a series of other, smaller tubes that either lead to other directions (especially when flowing down on rough ground) or supply one front of the flow altogether.
Sometimes the ceiling of the tunnel breaks down and forms kinds of "skylights". Here on Lanzarote, one of these sites is today the "jameo del agua", only some hundred meters from the cueva de los verdes away.
The cave system consists of two galleries, the lower one and the upper one. At the walls in the inner of the cave solidified remains of several different lava types can be found.
After paying the entrance fee (April 2014: 9 EUR for adults) you have to wait for the next tour guide, who takes you and your group for a walk of about 1km and about 50min length with many detailed information on the geological history of the caves (in Spanish and English language, with major deviation in quality). The caves are skillfully lighted, and some atmospheric music is played, so the tour through the caves is a multi-sense experience.
The cave is quite dark. For really nice photos you need a tripod and should disable the flash light.
To log this cache, you have to do two things:
Task 1: Listen to the tour guide, and send me an email (see my profile) with the answers to the following questions:
a) What's the name of the volcano that caused the lava flood creating the caves?
b) What's the "secret" of the last station during the tour through the caves (something about water & stone)?
c) -optional-: What type of volcanic eruption is it? (scientifical name of this type of volcanos, beginning with "H")
You may send the email in German, English or Spanish language. The answer to c) is quite difficult to find out, so I will accept emails with the answer to a) and b) only, too. Check the "send my email adress along" box to allow me to answer your email in case of errors.
Task 2 - optional-: Take a photo showing at least one person of your team, your GPSr and either the "cueva de los verdes" sign near the parking area or one of the entrance/exit ways of the cave system (see photos). Publish this photo with your log entry. Don't send it to me by email. It's optional - logs without photo will be accepted.
You may log just after sending the email - you don't have to wait for my response! I'll respond in case of errors, but if your answers are right, you may not get any response by me.
Do NOT publish the answers in your logs. Logs containing answers to the questions will be deleted. As at least the question b) can only be answered after taking the tour through the caves, you depend on the opening hours.
Geocaching is an international hobby: I especially appreciate logs in English language.
