This cache provides a grandstand opportunity to view the ‘Autódromo Internacional Algarve’, currently under construction due north of Mexilhoeira Grande. The first stage, 1.2 km from ‘Parking/Refreshment’ can be reached by car. The remaining 0.8 km requires a 4-WD vehicle or is an easy uphill walk.
An item concealed at the given coordinates provides the coordinates of the final cache but with the last 3 northing and westing digits encoded. Note that there is a route to this stage that avoids the surrounding scrub. Now proceed to Stage 2 (mid-way) and note the first 12 alphabetical letters inscribed on the southern face. To decode the last 3 alphabetical letters for both northing and westing found on the item at stage 1 delete the two repeater letters and number the remaining ten letters 0-9 on the basis that ‘C’ = 0 and ‘E’ = 9.
Even a gorilla might have difficulty in achieving a ‘find’ of the final cache. When you have determined the point of access (approximately 3 meters in distance and 5º West of North from Penascobo's edge) search 1.60 m northwards to unravel an essential element that permits access to the cache and that will also be required in restoring the mechanism to its original position. You are looking for particular stones that will be easily identifiable once you have found them. There is no need to extract the whole mechanism. Just follow the above directions and please return to the condition in which you found it. Thanks.
