The great wall of the Civilian Conservation Corp
Many walls and structures at the parks we visit were built back in the 1930's by these young men in need of work, a home, and a new lease on life. The corp provided a camp, clothing, nourishment, education, medical attention, sports, recreation, a full work week, and money to send home. These 17 to 25 year old's planted trees, maintained roads, built structures of all sorts, and fought forest fires (Smokey the Bear would approve).
The C.C.C. as part of the New Deal proposed by Franklin D Roosevelt was established in 1933 just after he took office. The program created jobs to help combat unemployment during the Great Depression. Camps ran by the Army were established in every state. Work was performed in local, state, and national parks. Much of their work is still standing and being used today.
The CCC program ended with most the young men going to the war in 1942. Today, here and in most states there are programs with simular goals, to help young people and permote community and conservation idealologies.

Whenever I'm riding in the area I love stopping for a breather at this spot. Around three tenths of a mile from the Gateway trail access (witch is nothing when your on a bike) The view is nice and its peaceful here. In the summer there is usually a cool breeze coming off Round lake. The main draw for this place is this great wall.. very pleasing to look at and think about those who built it.

The cache is in the original hole though the location has moved and new coord's put you closer to where that hiding hole landed. Please replace securely and never leave lighters or matches as Smokey Bear wouldnt approve
