Chapel of the Epiphany - Peplow

This cache is one of a series set at or near churches in the lovely surroundings of the Shropshire countryside.

We’d like to thank The Washers for conceiving the idea, initiating the series and inviting other cachers to add to it.

We've saved the best (in our opinion) until last.

The Chapel of the Epiphany is near Peplow Hall and set in some beautiful North Shropshire countryside. Peplow means "pebble tumulus or hill" and is recorded in the Domesday Book as Papelaw.

The church was designed by Norman Shaw and broke new ground in the story of Shropshire churches when it was built in 1879: It was the first church in Shropshire to break with the Gothic tradition.

The Chapel of the Epiphany is built of brick, with half-timbering with brick infill above. A continuous tile roof sweeps down both sides of the building and at the junction of the nave and chancel is a small bell-cote. The interior of the church is simple and contains a huge mural of the Epiphany by Douglas Strachan from 1903. The stained glass east window is particularly of note.

The Cache

The cache is not at the stated co-ordinates - these are just somewhere you might park your car while searching for the cache.

To find this cache, you need to collect the clues from the other six caches in the series:

The final cache is then at: N52 49.ABC W2 32.DEF.

You can validate your puzzle solution with certitude.

The cache is a regular sized lock n lock box in a camo bag. There are Certificates for the first, second and third finders. This one is a slightly longer walk but well worth it, with lots to see on the way.

When we set the cache there were some young calves with their mothers in a field on the way. They kept out of our way but please take care not to disturb them.
