Cathedral of Vác
on Konstantin tér is the building that defines the town. It was
built by the basis of Isidore Canevale's plan between
1761–77. It was begun in baroque style but completed in
Neoclassical and it's the only remaining monument in the country
representing the French neoclassic, late baroque ecclesiology. The
high altar and the fresco of the dome was painted by the Austrian
painter Maulbertsch, one greatest painters of the 18th century. The
cathedral can only be visited during mass or by prior arrangement
for tourists, so you may just have to stand outside, admiring its
massive columns and statues.
Felettébb furcsa
módon a váci székesegyháznak eddig nem volt saját geoládája. Van
persze egy virtuális multi, ami érinti, de szerintünk ennél többre
érdemes, hiszen ez Vác legmonumentálisabb és egyben meghatározó
épülete. Isidore Canevale tervei alapján 1761–1777 között
épült. Ugyanõ tervezte a Kõkaput. Az oltárkép és a kupolafreskó
Maulbertsch alkotása. A rejtés egy egyszeru, Kõkapu osztályú, B
típusú tárgyi postaláda. Segítség nélkül is meg lehet találni.
