Geocache Description:

You can find a Roman style church from the Y1100s it is built together with an Eclectic style newer church.

You can find the 900-year-old church on the Church-hill of Lengyeltóti village. When the number of members of Roman catholic congregation got higher (at the end of 1800s), a new big church was built but the old little church remained as the sanctuary of the new one. You know in the times of the wars against islamic invasion (1526-1686) the most of old building were unnihilated by turks and the survived ones are very appraised ones by us. Some interests about Lengyeltóti. This countryside was in the property of Pok clan in the beginning of 1000s. The Lengyel and Tóti families belonged to this clan. It is the origin of the name of the village. The most well-known member of Tóti family is Tóti Móric (Moritz Tóti), who saved the life of king Béla IV. in the Muhi battle it was in 1241. against Tartars/Mongols (Batu khan). Móric's son married the king’s granddaughter later.
