The Dolmen of Saint-Chamassy called Roc Del Cayre is included on the list of historical monuments. It was studied by the archaeological society in 1883 when excavations revealed the presence of a headless skeleton and a flint. This megalith is on the banks of the old road from Saint-Chamassy to Bigaroque and, although it has been preserved, some of the table supports have been modified to consolidate the building. All the stones of the dolmen are in red sandstone. As Jourdavant says in his log dolmens were all originally covered with earth and formed a mound. When the stones are clear as here, is that it is either unfinished or the earth has been removed as seems likely in this case.

Le dolmen de Saint-Chamassy appelé Roc Del Cayre est inscrit à la liste des monuments historiques. Il a fait l'objet d'étude par la société archéologique en 1883, les fouilles ont révélé la présence d'un squelette sans tête et d'un silex. Ce mégalithe se trouve sur les bords de l'ancien chemin de Saint-Chamassy à Bigaroque. Au moment du tracé du chemin, il a été préservé mais quelques supports de la table ont été modifiés pour consolider l'édifice. Toutes les pierres du dolmen sont en grès rouge. Comme jourdavant a dit dans son log les dolmens étaient tous à l'origine couverts de terre et formaient un tumulus. Quand les pierres sont dégagées comme ici, c'est que soit il est resté inachevé, soit la terre a été retiree, comme ice je pense.
