Geocache Description:

The above coordinates are not the actual numbers, although they are part of the solution.

This cache was hidden as part of the Pirelli Pilgrimage Event Cache on 18 April 2008.

The actual coordinates of the cache are:

N 24o 39.def

E055o 55.abc

The digits a,b,c,d,e,f can be deduced from the following simple multiplication, in which each of the letters a to f represent a unique digit which obviously are not the numbers 0, 2 and 3, as they are already shown:

          c c c 3

x    a c f

   f f b f

   c c c 3 0

   +a a f 2 0 0

    a b c d e f

You can check your answers for this puzzle on Geochecker.com. Remember to change the W (default) into an E when you enter the coordinates into geochecker though!

To reach the cache turn off onto a graded road near (i.e. within 60 m of) the following coordinates on the HattaMahda road:

N 24o 38.def

E055o 58.abc

So if you find a turn-off near the above coordinates you know you are pretty certain in finding the cache also!

The cache consists of a simple ‘lock and lock’ lunchbox type container which next to the usual logbook, pencil and sharpener contains tradable items based on the theme “puzzles”. The cache can be reached to within 250 m with a normal 2WD car. A 4WD vehicle can get you to within 115m.

The cache is hidden on Omani territory on the “Emirates side” of the Hajjar mountains. If you are coming from the UAE, please ensure that you have valid passports with residence visas and a car insurance form valid for both the UAE and Oman, with you to cross the border. More often than not the border guards will simply wave you through, but on occasion they might stop you and ask for either or both!
