Geocache Description:

Another in the growing church micro series

Our first cache placement so relatively easy. On placement the cache (35ml film canister) contained a log sheet, pencil and geocaching badge for FTF.

Please replace as exactly as found.

And now some information on the church...

St. Paul's, Rusthall, stands on a conspicuous site just off the A264 Langton Rd, and its tower is quite a landmark, being seen from almost every direction at great distances. The church was built in 1849 - 1850 and consecrated in August, 1850, and originally accommodated 520 persons; but the aisle which was subsequently added, largely increased the capacity of the building. Its architecture is much and justly admired. The graveyard is a quiet and attractive spot, and contains many elegant and costly tombs. The first interment was that of Charlotte Jeffrey Empson, and a few years after, her father, William Empson, son-in-law of Lord Jeffrey. The twelfth Earl of Buchan, William Selwyn, Q. C., and George R. Porter, are among the notable persons buried here. A very beautiful reredos has been presented to this church, by J. Stone-Wigg, Esq. It was designed by Jo. Norton, Esq., architect, and executed by Mr. Farmer, of Westminster Road.

There is a neat Parish Room, where services are held, at the lower end of the Common near the old Workhouse.

If any body would like to expand to this series please do, I would just ask that you could let Sadexploration know first so he can keep track of the Church numbers and names to avoid duplication
