!!!VEMTE S SEBOU TUZKU!!!
Olomoucky orloj je zasazen do severni fasady radnice.
Jeho architektonicky ramec tvori vyklenek s lomenym obloukem,
dosahujici vysky 14 metru. Dnesni podoba orloje je z 50. let
20.stoleti a je poplatna tehdejsi oficialni estetice
socialistickeho realismu. Mozaikova vyzdoba orloje sestava z
medailonu na bocnich stranach vyklenku, znazornujicich prace
charakteristicke pro jednotlive mesice v roce. Ve vrcholu vyklenku
uplatnil autor navrhu - Karel Svolinsky – folklorni motiv
Jizdy kralu. Ve spodni casti mozaikove vyzdoby jsou po stranach
dobove poplatne postavy predstavitelu pracujici tridy.
Trocha Historie
Orloj vznikl údajne uz mezi lety 1419–1422.
Bezpecne zpravy o nem vsak mame az z konce 15. stoleti. Neni
vylouceno, ze vznikl v ramci pozdne goticke prestavby budovy
radnice, ktera se uskutecnila v roce 1474. V prubehu staleti orloj
nabyl nekolika ruznych podob.
dilem. Novy orloj vznikl v polovine 50. let podle navrhu Karla
Svolinskeho (mozaika) a jeho manzelky Marie (figurky). Hodinovy
stroj z roku 1898, jedinou puvodni cast orloje, opravil olomoucky
hodinar Konrad Schuster.
ENGLISH
The Olomouc astronomical clock is situated in the
northern wall of the Town Hall. Its architectonic frame is made up
of a recess with a pointed arch reaching a height of almost
fourteen metres. The present-day appearance is from the 1950s and
is a product of the former official aesthetic of socialist realism.
The mosaic decoration of the astronomical clock is made up of
various portrayals on the lateral sides of the recess depicting
characteristic work for the individual months of the year. At the
top of the recess the author of the design, Karel Svolinský,
introduced the folklore motif of the Ride of the Kings. Figures
representing the different working classes are depicted on the
lower part of the mosaic decoration.
Bit of History
The astronomical clock apparently came into existence between
the years 1419–1422. The first accurate information, however,
about it dates from the end of the 15th century. It is possible
that it was created as part of the framework of the late Gothic
reconstruction of the building of the Town Hall which took place in
the year 1474. Over the course of centuries the astronomical clock
acquired various different looks. The most precious artistically
was undoubtedly its Baroque adaptation according to a design by the
painter Johann Christoph Handke from the year 1747. The most
well-known, however, was the Neo-Gothic adaptation according to a
design by Karel Bitterlich from the year 1898, modified in the year
1926 by Jano Köhler. In the year 1945 the astronomical clock
was damaged so much during the battles for liberation that the town
representatives of the day decided against reconstructing its
original look and instead decided to replace it with a contemporary
work The new astronomical clock came into existence in the mid
1950s according to a design by Karel Svolinský (the mosaic
work) and his wife Maria (the moving figures). The clock mechanism
from the year 1898, the only original part of the piece, was
repaired by the Olomouc clockmaker Konrad Schuster.
