Geocache Description:

Bratley Wood is located in the New Forest National Park. This National Park was created in March 2005 and it is the eighth national park in England, the first in the south-east of England and the first to be created for nearly 50 years.

Park your car at Bolderwood CP (SU 242 086)(N50 52.600 W001 39.400). To get to the cache there are 2 main routes. A stream has to be crossed so there is a choice of crossing by footbridge (SU234 083) (N50.52.404 W001.40.098) or splashing through (SU232 087) (N50.52.596 W001 40.098). After heavy rain it can be over the wellies.
If you go by the ‘splashing’ route the GPS will want to take you through a bog after the stream, steer clear and stay on the tracks.

Depending on your route there is a mixture of surfaces from gravel track to wet grassy areas so be prepared, flip-flops are not a good idea.

It is possible to cycle to within 50 metres of the cache, but this has to be done using the gravel tracks and an entirely different route. A good map will be required (Ordnance Survey Map OL22).

En-route look out for white deer (sighting not guaranteed). These are white phase fallow deer. If you miss them there are two in the field at the deer sanctuary (at the time of writing).

This cache is hidden under the agreement between the GAGB and Forestry Commission in the New Forest.
