Geocache Description:

Located in Madona, easily accesible by car, small walk.

The cache is placed in private property. It is agreed with the owner. It is done ir order to ensure the maintenance & long-term wellbeing of the cache. You start your little walk at N56 51.128 E26 12.690. This is currently the Museum of Local History and Art of Madona, but in 15th century it has been a granary - part of Birzi Manor – a property of Riga archbishop. It was placed on Koknese – Cesvaine road, which connected Koknese castle of the largest archbishop’s properties and wast areas around Cesvaine. This is where the city of Madona started to form around. One of the versions is that name Madona came from German name of the Birzi Manor “modohn”. You need to count the steps of the stairs leading to museum from the pavement. This is value A. Then move further to N56 51.109 E26 12.725. On the door of the building you find here, you must find the serial number of the building. The numbers without the letter is your value B. Move along the trail to N56 51.050 E26 12.645. This is the highest point of Madona, which is why the Birzi Manor was created in this area, and from here you can get a good sight of Madona center, if the weather is good. The buildings nearby are also part of the historical Birzi Manor – there lived the manor supervisor. You must count the number of windows the water tower has in one column. This is your value C. The formula for the final coordinates of the cache: N56 51. A-C/2 E26 12. (B-1)/C+C+1 The cache itself is a film container. It has a logbook & pencil in it.
