Geocache Description:

This cache can be found by following the direction and picture clues starting from the above co-ordinates.

The direction and picture clues will take you on a walk approximately 3.5kms long. There are lots of places and attractions along the way, so if you are not in a hurry take some time to take in the sights or visit some of the attractions.

Please note if the River Ouse is in flood it is not possible to travel between points 3 and 7. If you still wish to find the Cache and access is cut off by the high water, please contact us and we will give you an alternative start point.



There will be some climbing up and down steps and please be aware that some of this walk is elevated.

Facing the building in Picture # 1, turn in the direction of the RED pointer. You should now be facing the scene in Picture # 2 and you need to get to the area indicated by the YELLOW pointer.

Travel to the YELLOW pointer in Picture # 3

Keep on the right hand side of the road and keep walking till you see Picture # 4


Having gone to the YELLOW pointer in Picture # 4 turn left and left, and go to where the RED pointer is indicating in Picture # 5. Continue walking in the direction indicated by this RED pointer.


Keep walking and look left for the scene in Picture # 6, get to the YELLOW pointer.


At the end of the alley follow the RED Pointer in Picture # 7


Just after you turned left at the end of the alley, safely, cross the road. Keep right until you see a statue. Cross the road using the pedestrian crossings and stand at the base of the statue and line up Picture # 8. Go to where the RED pointer is indicating.


At the top of picture # 9. STOP! Take a photograph



Follow in the direction of Picture # 10 until you get to Picture # 11




At the bottom of the steps turn left and then take the first right. Pass three Churches and turn left; keep walking and pass another church on your left and you should be able to see the scene in Picture # 12


Follow the RED pointer indicated in Picture # 12 (It’s the first non dead end road on your right) and you should see the scene in Picture # 13 after you have walked about 100 yards up this older clerical road.


Continue down this road until you see Picture # 14.


This is it – the cache, a small click and lock in a camo bag, is hidden just behind
the memorial stone decicated to the infant son of Wm & Mary Jackson who died on June 12th 1843.

Take the time to walk in this small park and take note of the memorials to the soldiers, such as:

IN MEMORY OF
Lieutenant GENTLE VICKERS
who having bravely fought with the
DUKE of WELLINGTON in several
of his Engagements in Spain
and also at the memorable Battle
of WATERLOO died in this City
on the 9th May 1823
Aged 35 Years
