Yummy? Yummy! Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

TheSayreShellie: It's really difficult to archive the first cache I ever placed. But if I can barely find the time to access my e-mail, I guess I can't keep replacing this one. Especially since the nearby attraction has closed. But on a happier note, it is actually a good reason that the cache keeps coming up missing. Next time you are in the area, see if you can figure out the hiding spot given this new clue! Bye Bye Yummy Yummy!

How Geocaching Works

Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

Geocache Description:

This is a camo'd micro hidden in an urban setting. So please use extreme stealth!

The cache contains just a log and small FTF prize (a bit worse for the wear, I'm afraid). So please BYOP.

The coordinates listed are for the bandstand (c. 1886) in Howard Elmer Park in Sayre, PA. It has nothing to do with the cache or solving for the actual coordinates. I just love old bandstands, that's all!

To solve for the actual coordinates, you will first need to break this down completely into FIVE unique "fundamental" components:

CHOCOLATE

Remember, when you're done breaking down the CHOCOLATE, you'll have just 5 bits of it to put in the math blender below. None of the bits will be the same and don't leave any bits left over, 'cuz it would be a terrible thing to waste CHOCOLATE!

Then do this math to get the actual coordinates:

N41 AA.BBB
W076 CC.DDD

AA = the sum of the components - 151
BBB= the sum of the even-numbered components + 752
CC = the sum of the components - 179
DDD= the sum of the odd-numbered components + 778

I wasn't sure how to rate this, so sorry. I guess I should have rated it harder, so I changed it! And there is one correct way to place the cache back, thanks in advance.

3-20-08: There is a piece of camo meant to make the container more watertight. You can easily remove this one piece for easier opening & closing. Then just put it back on so it doesn't hang up the lid. Thanks!

BEST SEARCH HOURS for hunting for real yummies (& Big Foot) in addition to the cache (but feel free to search for the cache any time):

Now thru 2-14-09 Valentine's Day,
Weekday-- 10 am - 5 pm
Sat. (& sometimes Sun.)-- 10 am - 3 pm
They may be closed from 2 pm - 3 pm for lunch break.

After 2-14-09, they will be closed for 1 or 2 weeks to restock yummies. Then re-opening weekdays & Sat. 11 am to 2 pm until the day before Easter, 4-11-09 with hours likely extended the closer we get to Easter.

After that, you'll have to wait until November to have a chance at the real yummies!

Congratulations to Team Ferret for FTF!

Heads-up to "Tech-Savvy" cachers who like to log from the field: There is open WiFi access at the Sayre Public Library. The library is right across the street from Howard Elmer Park. There is also open access at the Bradford Co. Library, located on SR6 in West Burlington, PA.
