Geocache Description:

Transfiguration of Our Lord - Pyecombe

The original church was built in 1170 in the traditional Norman style. In the early 13th century the Tower was added and was topped with a pyramidal wooden roof with clay tiles. This roof is known as a 'Sussex Cap' as it is not common outside of Sussex.
Inside the church you will find the original Norman Font dating from 1170. It is made from lead and is the best of only three other lead fonts in Sussex.
The windows in the chancel date from the 13th century and the ones in the nave are from the Tudor period...circa 1500.

If any body would like to expand to this series please do, I would just ask that you could let Sadexploration know first so he can keep track of the Church numbers and names to avoid duplication
