Geocache Description:

THIS CACHE WILL BE ARCHIVED PRIOR TO THE GEOLYMPIX MEGA.

The Carfax Tower is the remains of the church of St Martin which was demolished in 1896 in order to widen the road and improve traffic flow. The tower was renovated following this and visitors today, for a small charge can climb the 99 steps to the top of the tower which offers some wonderful views over Oxford. There are two figures known as “quarter boys” on the front of the tower that strike the quarter hours. On the second floor of the tower is an exhibition on its history.

The cache is a magnetic micro placed in a very busy part of Oxford so stealth will be required when retrieving and replacing this cache. The magnet is seriously strong, so if you can't remove the cache you'll have to log a DNF. Do NOT try to slide the pot off the magnet as you'll break it.
