About SideTracked Caches
This cache belongs to the SideTracked series. It is not designed to
take you to a magical place with a breath taking view. Its a
distraction for the weary traveller, but anyone else can go and
find it too!
About the Area
Farnborough's second railway station is now called Farnborough
North and is on the Reading to Guildford line which was opened in
1849. An hourly service to Reading and Guildford operates on this
line between Monday and Saturday but the service is less frequent
on Sundays.
All the original station buildings have been replaced by modern
shelters. Near the cache site are the refurbished gates which
originally led to marshalling yards.
Once through the crossing gates, a path leads through to Frimley
Green via a bridge over the busy A331 and across the Blackwater
River where you can also pick up the Blackwater Valley Path.
