Geocache Description:

Cache is NOT located near the marker. This is an easy two-stage multicache. To locate the actual cache, you must visit the coordinates listed where the plaque is located and then you must follow the instructions in the description. Cache is a small Altoids tin. Please be stealthy and rehide better than found.

Not recommended after dark! To locate the cache:

Locate the plaque on the building and determine how many years the original facility served the community's passenger and shipping needs. Walk this number of feet to the east.

This is Corona Historic site #13, site of the Sante Fe Railroad Depot located on Depot Drive (formerly Railroad Street), south of the Santa Fe tracks. Two structures were built here. The current structure was built in 1937 at a cost of $35,000 in Spanish Revival-style architecture to commemorate an anniversary of Corona’s founding. Passenger service ended in 1968 and freight stops ended in the early 1980s.

This monument and marker were placed March 5, 2007.

The Corona Historic Preservation Society of Corona, CA has selected thirteen (as of Feb 14, 2008) sites of historic significance to this city and have placed bronze or granite plaques at these locations. All but three were placed by Boy Scouts as part of their requirement to attain the rank of Eagle Scout.

Additional information can be found at the Corona Library, Heritage Room, 650 South Main Street, Corona, CA. or at the Heritage Museum at 510 West Foothill Parkway, Corona, CA.
