Impressed with the number of beautiful Oak trees around here, I decided to use them to make a series of caches, as there are a lot of footpaths in the area. Each cache is hidden at the bottom of an Oak tree, so they should not be too difficult to find, but will give you a good walk! They are all hidden within about a mile of the village of Cowfold, and all beside public footpaths. If you have Explorer Map 134, this will help you to find the right footpaths to reach them.
There are 12 traditional caches, and a bonus milti-cache. You can do the traditional caches in any order, but you will need to collect the bonus number, which is hidden in each traditional cache, before you can work out where to find the bonus cache.
There is a free public car park, with toilets, in the centre of Cowfold, and three bus routes go through the village. There are two pubs, and I can recommend The Hare and Hounds, down the road towards Henfield, for a good snack lunch. There are two main roads going through the village, which can be busy at times, so please take care when crossing these.
