Lappeen pappila rakennettiin alunperin nimensä mukaisesti Lappeen
seurakunnan rovastin virka-asunnoksi vuonna 1871. Pappilana paikka
toimi vuoteen 1955 asti, jonka jälkeen rakennukset siirtyivät
kaupungin omistukseen. 1960-luvulta aina 2000-luvun alkuun asti
annettiin pappilan rapistua hiljalleen varsin heikkoon kuntoon.
Vuonna 2003 pappila entisöitiin vanhaan loistoonsa EU-rahojen
turvin. Entisöintiprojekti toteutettiin pääasiallisesti
opiskelijavoimin.
Nykyisin päärakennuksessa toimii tilausravintola Lappeen
Ruustinna sekä viereisessä vanhassa navettarakennuksessa
Etelä-Karjalan taideyhdistyksen ylläpitämä Galleria Pihatto.
Galleria on auki ympäri vuoden ja sisäänpääsy on ilmainen, joten se
soveltuu hyvin vierailukohteeeksi kätköilyn yhteydessä. Meneillään

Lappeen pappila was built in 1871 to serve as a residence for the
head of the local lutherian parish. The residence was occupied by
the priests until 1955 after which the ownership was transfered to
the municipality of Lappeenranta. From the early sixties until the
begining of the new millenium the place was unattended and slowly
got into quite bad shape.
In the 2003 the place was restored to its former glory in a
restauration project funded by the European Union. Most of the work
was carried out by students of restauration and architecture.
Nowdays the main building has a restaurant called Lappeen
Ruustinna (Ruustinna meaning the head of the parish's wife) and the
old barn next to it is occupied by the art gallery Galleria Pihatto
operated by the south-carelian art society. The gallery is open
through out the year and entrance is free, so it makes a nice place
to visit after finding the cache.
