geomatrix: sad to report Smokey is missing and I think buried.. looks like the neighbor has been pushing dirt over the hill and I still cant recognize smokeys den. spent a long time looking for the really cool container. OH WELL he had a nice run here. thanks for visiting

Geocache Description:


2008 a new cache "only you" was placed in Flicek park to honor Smokey Bear and remind geocachers to never leave lighters or matches in a cache

1944 Smokey Bear was created as the new spokesman for this nations longest running ad campaign.. for preventing forest fires

2001 the ad campaign had worked so well it was changed to "only you can prevent wild fires" to bring the nations awareness to the ever increasing wild fires burning in the U.S.

1942 before Smokey.. Walt Disney's Bambi was used for the fire prevention campaign

1952 a Smokey Bear doll was released that came with an application for kids to become Junior Rangers. The program recieved so many responses that Smokey got his own zip code 20252

1997 Smokey made his first of several appearances on the Simpsons. He has been featured and goofed on many other shows over the years and stared on his own cartoon in the 70's

2008 the cache called Only You, short for the famous phrase that can be finished by 95% of Americans, includes a Smokey Bear(only you) geocoin number as a bonus to the finders of this cache.. the coin can be discovered
