Dutchess Rail Trail Multi-cache

This cache has been archived.

MSTzilla: As a bit of a tribute for all the great comments I've been getting on my caches lately, I've decided to rework the couple of caches that went missing with all new ones. They will be listed very soon.

Geocache Description:

Welcome to the Dutchess Rail Trail. This trail, when completed, will consist of almost 12 miles of linear park from Hopewell Junction to Poughkeepsie. The trail will use the abandoned Maybrook Line railway and will eventually connect with the Poughkeepsie Train Bridge Walkway when that project is completed. Maps for the proposed final trail can be found here (www.dutchesscountytrails.com). This cache is located on the first section of the Dutchess Rail Trail to be open to the public that runs from route 376 in Hopewell Junction to Lake Walton Road in Fishkill Plains. There is still work to be done in the spring, but there is a paved and gravel path great for hiking and biking. When the entire project is complete, it will be an absolute treasure in the county. Best parking for this cache is located off route 376.

This cache is a two-stage multi that should take less than an hour to complete with both stages within a few feet of the trail. The first stage is a micro that would be tough to find with any snow accumulation. The final is a 7x6x4 inch Lock-n-Lock container. There was some sattelite bounce at the final location, so remember that it's close to the trail. The trail is paved and would be a 1 terrain, but bumped to a 1.5 only because the placement of the caches are not wheelchair accessible. This is a great place for dog walking too, just keep them on a leash. While seeking out this cache, you may want to take a little more time to search for the DRT: The Walton’s cache. Enjoy the trail.
