Autumn Caching in the Bluies - 2008 Event Cache

This cache has been archived.

Team Webguy: Time to lay this one to rest.

What a brilliant day it was, weather was just sparkling, the wind came up from time to time but was really not a bother, this is what caching on the mountains is all about, days like this.

Thanks to all the people who attended during the day, was good to see familiar faces and to meet some new ones.

Thanks especially to those who traveled large distances to get here, you helped to make the day a success.

A big thanks to Ropes who added to the entertainment for the day and ended up being the unofficial minder of kids for some time. Much appreciated with the canoes and the time trial you laid out. Two thumbs up!!

Eventually we did get pushed out of the shelter by a horde of noisy hungry tourists.

This was our biggest attendance to date, lets see who turns up for 2009....

Geocache Description:

The Blue Mountains to the west of Sydney are a cacheing paradise, good sized caches, amazing locations, challenges of both the physical and technical, what more could you want really?

Once again, it's that time of the year, it's Autumn, one of the best times to cache in the Blue Mountains and of course Team Webguy are putting on their annual event.

Events are a great opportunity to come along and meet some of your fellow cachers who share a passion for geocaching, no matter what your experience, age or sex, everyone is welcome to turn up. Many great friendships have been made by coming to events such as this, come along and spend the afternoon talking geocaching and learning more about the electronic side of caching. It's also a great opportunity to meet the people who are placing the caches you are doing, and beat them up.

As usual this will be a pretty informal event, no black suit and tie affairs here! Like last year, we will hold this at Wentworth Falls lake, where there is a large shelter and a double BBQ.

We plan to arrive early so we can procure the shelter and BBQs, but turn up when you want from say 10:30am onwards. When you arrive, look for the Geocaching logos, just in case there are other picnickers there on the day. There are toilets, picnic tables and BBQs, but if you want to be safe, bring something to cook on and sit on just in case.

This will be a great opportunity to meet other people who either live in the mountains or cache in the mountains on a regular basis who like chasing tupperware in the bush. There will also be demonstrations on electronic mapping on both Laptop and Pocket PC, as well as discussions / demonstrations on paperless caching.

Kids are more than welcome as there will already be a few running around of various ages!

BYO everything.

If you have some coins or bugs, bring them along!

We would love to see you at the event - Hope to see you there! If you did not come last year, and you know who you are, we hope to see you there this year.

Don't forget to post a "Will Attend" log to say you are coming and with how many people. Lastly, make sure you put this on your watch list so you get any updates as they happen.
