A short walk up to Shelvock Plantation where
some great panoramic views of the whole area can be had. On a clear
day you get a great view of the Breiddens along with many other
local points of interest.
Shelvock Plantation takes it's name from the old
Doomsday Manor of Shelvock. If you look carefully there are still
signs of the old estate around the area, especially to the north.
It became part of the Tedsmore estate in the late 1800's. Shelvock
is one of the eleven townships of the nearby Ruyton-XI-Towns.
While you are in the area you may like to check
out Shelvock trig-point at N52 48.435 W2 56.243 as it's loggable as
a find on the
Ye Ole Survey Monuments cache.
Suggested parking is approx N52 48.101 W2 56.547. Follow the Public
Footpath along the edge of the field and bear left up the hill by
the stile (you don't need to cross the stile).
You are looking for a regular size camo'd
lock-n-lock container.
In true Bolas Heathens spirit, bonus points are
awarded to those who post a 'Self portrait with the cache' along
with their log!
