PT: A Freguesia de Alte, com uma superfície
de aproximadamente 97 km2, situa-se no centro do Algarve e no
extremo noroeste do Concelho de Loulé. Estende-se por terras
serranas e do barrocal, com a Serra do Caldeirão a erguer a norte.
A Rocha dos Soidos, com 482 metros de altitude, é a zona mais
elevada da freguesia, tendo outrora servido de referência aos
navegantes. Deste local avista-se também toda a freguesia. Tal como
outras freguesias do interior, Alte não foge à regra, possuindo
fracos recursos económicos e vivendo de uma agricultura de
susbsistência.
A aldeia de Alte, que já foi considerada a mais típica de Portugal,
continua fiel às suas origens, mercê de um investimento de
recuperação e manutenção efectuado pela autarquia, no sentido de
preservar os seus traços originais, onde a Igreja Matriz,
provavelmente edificada nos anos 1500, continua a ser a mais antiga
referência histórica de Alte.
ING: The Town of Alte, with a surface area of about 97 km2,
is located at the heart of the Algarve and in the extreme
northwestern County of Loulé. It lies through mountain and the
Barrocal, with the Serra do Caldeirão to raise the north. The Rock
of Soidos, with 482 meters of altitude, is the highest area of the
parish, having formerly served reference to the surfers. This site
also may be seen throughout the parish. Like other villages in the
interior, Alte no exception to the rule, with weak economic
resources and living in a farming susbsistência.
The village of Alte, which has been considered the most typical of
Portugal, remains faithful to its origins, mercy of a recovery of
investment and maintenance carried out by the municipality in order
to preserve its original features, where the Mother Church,
probably built in years 1500, remains the oldest historical
reference of Alte.
PT: A ribeira de Alte nasce na Quinta do Freixo,
corres em leito sinuoso que seca não estio. Ao chegar às
proximidades de Alte, segue entre margens direitas e alimenta-se
das águas da Fonte Grande que brotam cristalinas durante todos os
meses do ano. Corres então entre penedos, saltando de açude em
açude, passa uma Fonte Pequena, seguindo até à represa do Moinho da
Levada, alcançando o salto da ponte, uma estrada nacional, e
percorre mais uns 300 metros até se precipitar na Queda do
Vigário.
Ao longo da aldeia de Alte, uma ribeira conduz como águas da Fonte
Grande, que foram, durante séculos utilizadas para curtir o
esparto, para lavar uma roupa, para fazer Movimentação os novos
moinhos construídos nas suas margens e ainda para uma rega de
muitas pequenas Hortas e pomares nas suas várzeas.
Conforme Fontes, Pequena e Grande, era e são ainda hoje, lugares de
passeio preferidos pelas gentes da terra e por muitos visitantes de
todas como idades e nacionalidades.
O sítio da Fonte Pequena, outrora de margens inclinadas e terra
solta, era o ponto de encontro para que mulheres que lavavam ou
como roupas ou aguardavam a sua vez nas filas para uma água.
ING: The stream of Alte born in Quinta do Freixo, is in bed
in the dry winds that estio. On reaching the vicinity of Alte,
follows margins between right and feed on the waters of Source
Grande that spring crystal during all months of the year. There
then enter penedos, jumping into the dam dam, becomes Source Small,
according to the mill's dam Levada, reaching the jump from the
bridge, the National Road, and travels more each 300 meters until
they precipitate in the Fall of Vicar.
Throughout the village of Alte, the stream leads the waters of the
Great Source, which have been used for centuries to enjoy the
esparto, to wash the clothes, to move the nine windmills built on
their margins and also to irrigate many small vegetable gardens and
orchards in its várzeas.
The Sources, Small and Large were, and are still, places Tour
favourites by people of the land and for many visitors of all ages
and nationalities.
About Source of Small, formerly of margins inclined and loose
earth, was the meeting point for women who lavavam the clothes or
awaiting their time in queues for water.
