How Geocaching Works

Geocache Description:

		To find this cache you will take a walk on a Wild West Coast beach. Depending upon where you park, expect to walk about 6.7km from the 4WD access point near the golf course at the south end of the beach, or 9km from the beach carpark at Muriwai township. And ofcourse the same again to walk back.
Ofcourse you could choose to cheat and just drive to the cache, with the appropriate vehicle ofcourse. If you do so, please take extra care driving on the beach. The very last thing we want is for you to hurt yourself or someone else. This is a very busy beach at times with families and children.
As you approach the cache site (and if you drive, you can park within about 80m of it) you will be faced with a bit of a scramble up a fairly steep slope, but you should be able to find a way. Once at the top, please be careful to not harm the vegetation as you make your way to the cache.
		The cache is protected by a rather spiky guardian, but if you make your final approach from the correct direction then you should not need to do battle with any thorns. The cache can be reached without doing any damage to yourself, and should be located in a fairly obvious spot at GZ.
At the time of planting, the cache contained logbook, pens, some trade items, a travel bug and a geocoin. Good luck and happy (not to mention safe) cache hunting! FTF honours go to: wind, 27 Jan 08
