O Templo
O centro de Humkara Dzong está situado numa pequena propriedade na Serra do Caldeirão, no Algarve. É um dos pontos mais altos das redondezas e de onde se desfruta de uma esplêndida vista a 360°. Ao fim do dia, enquanto os contornos da Serra de Monchique, a Oeste, flutuam acima das brumas que submergem os vales, é frequente assistir-se em simultâneo ao pôr-do-sol e ao nascer da lua. As instalações do centro resumiam-se, inicialmente, a um antigo moinho de vento com algumas dependências. Ao longo dos anos, juntaram-se a eles uma dezena de pequenas casas e duas oficinas. Na colina em frente, onde se irá erguer futuramente um centro de retiros, foi construída uma habitação para os lamas convidados e um templo que abriga algumas estátuas, tangkas e uma colecção completa dos volumes do Kangyur e Tengyur.
Introdução ao Budismo
O Budismo nasceu na Índia há 2500 anos com a Iluminação Espiritual do Príncipe Siddharta: O Buda Histórico (Buda Shakyamouni). No séc. VIII o Mestre Indiano Padmasambhava e o Abade Shanktarakshita introduziram o Budismo no Tibete, tendo a escola Nyingma derivado directamente desses primeiros ensinamentos. Até 1950 o Budismo floresceu no Tibete, assumindo uma forma particularmente completa e viva.
A vida comunitária em Portugal
Desde a sua fundação em 1979, o centro Ogyen Kunzang Chöling de Lisboa, aproveitando a experiência adquirida no centro de Bruxelas, adoptou uma estrutura comunitária semelhante (ver A vida comunitária na Ogyen Kunzang Chöling).
Também em Humkara Dzong, no Algarve, um pequeno grupo de residentes desempenha quotidianamente as várias actividades religiosas e comunitárias. Este centro desempenha para Portugal o mesmo papel que o de Nyima Dzong para a França e a Bélgica, ou seja, o de permitir que os alunos disponham de um local retirado, apropriado à realização de retiros e de seminários intensivos de estudo e de prática.
Serra do Caldeirão acolhe primeiro monumento budista do país
O primeiro monumento budista do País vai ser construído no ponto mais alto da Serra do Caldeirão, Loulé, onde desde há 25 anos se ergue o centro 'Humkara Dzong', paredes meias com algumas das mais típicas aldeias algarviasO 'Stupa', uma espécie de mausoléu construído em forma de torre, terá quase cinco metros de altura e vai ser construído em granito rosa, sendo o seu interior preenchido por pequenas estátuas, orações, cereais, plantas medicinais e pedras semipreciosas.

The Temple
The Center of Humkara Dzong is located in a small property in Serra do Caldeirão, Algarve. It’s one of the highest points in the vicinity offering a splendid view of 360 °. At the end of the day, while the contours of the Serra de Monchique, in the west, float above the mist that submerge the valleys around, it’s often possible to simultaneously watch the sunset and the moonrise. The facilities of the complex started with the old windmill and some dependencies. Over the years, a dozen small houses and two workshops were added. On a nearby hill was built a house for sludge guests and a temple that houses some statues, tangkas and a complete collection of volumes of the Kangyur and Tengyur.
Introduction to Buddhism
The Buddhism started in India 2500 years ago with the Spiritual Enlightenment of Prince Siddharta: The Buddha History (Buddha Shakyamouni). In the eight century the Master Padmasambhava Indian and Abbot Shanktarakshita introduced Buddhism in Tibet, and the school Nyingma derived directly from those first lessons. Until 1950 the Buddhism flourished in Tibet, assuming a particularly full and live branch.
The community life in Portugal
Since its foundation in 1979, the center Ogyen Kunzang Chöling of Lisbon, drawing on the experience gained in the centre of Brussels, adopted a similar community structure (see Life Community Ogyen Kunzang Chöling). Also in Humkara Dzong, in the Algarve, a small group of residents plays daily the various religious activities in community. This organization plays in Portugal a similar role as Nyima Dzong in France and Belgium, namely to allow students to have a place, suitable for holding retreats and seminars, intensive study and practice.

The first Buddhist monument of the country will be built at the highest point of the Serra do Caldeirão, Loulé, where for 25 years the center rising 'Humkara Dzong', close to some of the most typical algarvian. 'Stupa', a sort of mausoleum built in the shape of tower, will take nearly five meters high and will be built in pink granite, its interior filled by small statues, prayers, cereals, herbal and stones semi.
