Geocache Description:

CZ: Druha ze serie kesi na mych oblibenych cyklomistech
EN: Second cache of my favorite bike-territories series

Par slov k samotnemu hradu: Hrad Veveri - jeden z nejrozsahlejsich a bohuzel v soucasne dobe take i nejvice zanedbanych hradnich arealu u nas vznikal postupne behem temer osmisetlete historie. Puvodne zrejme maly lovecky hradek ci pouze dvorec moravskych markrabat je v pramenech poprve pripominan roku 1213. Veveri jako opravdovy kamenny hrad vznika pravdepodobne az pred polovinou 13. století. Mimo jine jako misto kralovskeho dohledu nad osidlovanim uzemi vzhuru proti toku reky Svratky. Vice zde.
Souradnice ulozeni cache ziskate rozlustenim prilozeneho caroveho kodu:
EN: Cache is not on listed coordinates - there is Veveri Castle, most interesting object on my trip around Brno Dam Reservoir. Whole trip is about 25km long, here and there quite challenging, but very nice.
A few words about the castle itself: Legend says that this Brno Castle took its name from squirrels (veverky), which Prince Konrad, its reputed founder, spotted on a rock above the Svratka River. King Premysl Otakar II kept his enemies imprisoned at Veverí. In the 1300s Margrave John Henry of Moravia made the castle one of his main seats. At various times Veverí also belonged to members of the Swedish royal family and the Greek princely Ypsilanti family. Partially open to the general public, the historical monument offers changing exhibitions, while cultural events take place here on weekends during the main tourist season.
In the early 20th century, Britain's Prime Minister Churchill, then the Secretary of State for Trade, visited the castle three times as a guest of Maurice Arnold de Forest, his friend and the castle's owner. He even spent, with his wife Clementine, part of his honeymoon there. Photogalery here.
