On a previous trip to Ontario, I came across my first Geo-Post
Office cache. Cachers were encouraged to send off a piece of mail
to another cacher by dropping it off for them to pick up...or,
should the addressee be across the continent, for another cacher to
pick it up and move it along to another Geo-Post Office. The
letters move about like a travel bug in a race until they get to
their destination. No postage? No problem!
I was quite taken with this idea, and given that our locale
could use a few more well wishes these days, decided to establish a
Geo-Post Office for our region. To kick things off, the cache is
well-stocked with holiday cards for local cachers and other cachers
who I know come to our area to go geocaching. There are only a
couple exceptions, and within a couple months, I will make
arrangements for these cards to reach their addressees. For now,
come find this Rubbermaid container, sign the logbook, and take
your card. Please restrict your drop-offs to letters or travel
bugs; NO TRADE ITEMS! Once Springtime hits, I will turn this
into a standard Geo-Post Office. Feel free to leave a nice card for
another cacher as well.
Please, note in your log if you dropped off a card for another
cacher. That way, I can add their name to the list of cachers who
have mail awaiting their arrival.
One last word about the stock of cards within the cache
container. The work on these began back in September, with
GuineaGal and I passing off cards back and forth. Since then, I was
left with the cards, and Cockroach and I finished up a list of
cards to be written (actually, we're still working on them, but the
container is almost full). Only Cockroach and I know the location
of the cache at the orginal hiding, soooooo...GuineaGal, feel free
to find this one and count it as a smiley. There's a card in here
for you, too!
Please refrain from hunting this (and another nearby cache)
after dark. Although it is on public property, bright lights could
attract attention, resulting in the hide being muggled. The hide
was placed after we had some snow in the area. It SHOULD be winter
accessible, unless we have huge drifting problems. Just use your
geo-sense, and if need be, the hint, and you'll find it to be a
quick walk and find. Enjoy!
Congratulations to MickEMT for FTF, and Skeeterbait2 for STF! I
enjoyed reading both of your logs! Happy Holidays!
