St Mary the Virgin
The 51st in this series, started by sadexploration, is St Mary the Virgin at Send. As Woking Wonders are unable to compete with certain cachers on this series we have decided the only way forward is for us to extend it.
The first record of a church in Send appears in William the Conqueror's record "The Domesday Book" compiled in 1085. The oldest part of the present building is the chancel which dates from about 1220.
A tower with a ring of 6 bells where Woking Wonders have rung a number of peals (our other favourite pasttime) and where on one occasion, after ringing for 3 hours, we found ourselves locked inside!
A straight forward micro which is placed by a public footpath so keep an eye out for passing muggles.
The cache has a log book only plus micro certificates and hand made micro churches but no pen so please bring one with you.
