Located just off Highway 766, the coordinates take you to a parking spot next to a place of historical interest and across the road from a fine glacial erratic.
The erratic is designated as a boulder or rock formation transported some distance & deposited upon dissimilar bedrock. Where similar types of erratics are found to be distributed in a linear or ribbon-like pattern, they are described as an erratics train.
The half a billion year old rocks that form our Alberta erratic train are from the Jasper area of the Rocky Mountains. The train consists of thousands of quartzite and pebbly quartzite blocks of varying sizes. The largest behemoths in the Alberta train are found near Okotoks, Airdrie, and Glenwoodville.
